Long strenuous hours of work can often make students dread school. However, school is truly what you make it.
At Proviso East High School, coaches and staff have provided countless opportunities for students looking for more than just a pen and paper.
Any girl students, from incoming freshmen through seniors, are welcomed on Monday and Wednesday from 6-8 pm for basketball open gym here at Proviso East.
“The work we put in starts now,” said Proviso East Head Girls Basketball Coach, Noelle Robinson. “We had a great turn-around season since implementing off-season work, and we plan to continue that.”
Lady Pirate Amyiah Dunbar, Class of 2025, agreed, “I truly think we wouldn’t have had the season we just had without the constant opportunities to simply just get in the gym.”
Even after the school year ends, the staff and coaches are still pouring into the future of the Proviso East Pirates.
Summer Camp opportunities for all sports—girls and boys—are free of charge!
“Some students’ safe place for them is sports,” said a wellness counselor at the Maywood library, “and when the season ends, their outlet of support tends to end too. These summer camps allow kids to continue to put their energy into something mentally and physically healthy.”
These summer camps provide lunch, t-shirts and a reusable water bottle.
It’s important to remember that we are, “Students First, Athletes Second.”
Summer camps run June 9 to June 30.
There are countless experiences waiting for you–come out!
