Proviso East students celebrate Christmas in many different ways with loved ones. There are many ways to celebrate a holiday!
Proviso East students were interviewed to share their personal traditions that make it Christmas to them.
Senior Xavier Hall
What are some unique Christmas Eve traditions you do? Hall answered, “On Christmas Eve my house spends the night playing games and watching movies. At twelve in the morning, we open gifts; after we then play with what we were given until we go to bed.”
And how about Christmas Day? He said, “On Christmas Day we either go to my grandparents’ house or we go to whoever’s home we want to spend time with for the holidays.”
What’s his favorite part of his Christmas tradition? Hall states, “My favorite part is seeing everyone open their presents as well as watching my favorite Christmas movie.”
His favorite Christmas move? “Home Alone”.
Senior Zion Elzy
What are some unique Christmas Eve and Christmas Day traditions you have? Elzy said, “Christmas Eve me and my family usually make hot chocolate and binge watch shows on Netflix.” Elzy added, “My family also celebrates Kwanzaa, so we do this event at a banquet hall where it’s different African foods and people dancing.”
Sounds fun! What is your favorite part of your holiday traditions? Elzy replied, “Really the food for real it be top tier.”
You mentioned binge watching Netflix with your family. What’s your favorite show you usually watch on Christmas Eve? Elzy said, “Anything comedy.”
Senior Derreone Owens
What are some unique Christmas Eve and Christmas Day traditions you have? Owens answered, “Of course I open my gifts and then we eat and play games with my cousins.”
What is your favorite things you do on Christmas? Owens states, “It so far would maybe be playing games with my cousins.”
Are there any changes to your usual traditions for Christmas this year? If so, what are they and are you looking forward to them and why? Owens replied, “This year I’d be with my girlfriend which would be a new tradition that I’m looking forwards to.”
These are the different unique traditions celebrated by Proviso East High students. Everyone has shown they celebrate the same holidays but with different ways of celebrating.
