Teens nowadays are in different arrays of opinion when it comes to what music they listen to. Some teens are into heavy metal, rock, and country. While others acquire the taste of R&B, rap, and hip-hop as their needs of music.

Evan Sánchez, a senior, stated that rap is the best music genre today and that “no other music genre could touch.” He also stated that inspirations like J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and Eminem should be the head of the music industry. He says that their lyrics and their flow is what reels him into their music. This statement is very understandable, as the names that he listed has are kind of O. G’s (Originals) in the music industry and are recognized as gloated in their own distinct way.

You would think that rap today would be the only music genre teens know, but teens listen to a plethora of different music genres. Teens listen to Rap, R&B, rock, country, and even heavy metal.

Another student, David Aguilera, who graduated last year, is in-tune with rock and heavy metal. He also stated that his favorite band is the Beetles and that they have inspired him to try to create his own music. He says by hearing the harmonious instrumentals of the Beetles, he mimics the feel and the connection of the music. He also states that he likes to play a plethora of instruments for his music; some being the drums, harmonica, guitar, keyboard, and electric guitar. Because of these two examples, we can see how diverse teens’ taste in music is.
